If I'm thinking the same thing you are, its when a the runner runs a person to a desired location that can be reach without doing any special quests or missions. For instance, people run to Droknar's Forge from Beacon's Perch so people can get max armor.

In my opinion dervish and assassin runners are the best but most all professions can run if done correctly.

Depends on what you are running. Running missions? Running dungeons? Running from point A to point B? Running quests? It sounds like you want a way to make money, and if you have to ask what running is, you aren't ready to do it. It not only takes the right class and build, but knowledge of the run (monsters, their skills, thier spawns, NPCs, pathing, etc.). Possibly one of the easiest runs to learn is the desert in Prophecies. Can be done on any class with speed boosts, and even on a class relying on a secondary for those speed boosts (or PvE skills). But there isn't much money in running anything but dungeons.

Running is taking someone from point A to point B without them doing any of the work due to the mechanics of the zoning system in GW. They can sit alone and do nothing, yet be warped zone to zone until you zone to a town and they receive the Icon on the map for that town.

Personally, I used D/Mo (Dervish/monk) when I was still playing a lot.

I gave him the Elite Balthazar Form, the pve only skill that recharges all dervish skills and a few monk skills to keep myself from hexes/conditions and dying and causing a failed run.

I successfully ran people from Lion's Arch to Ascalon and vice versa with every available stop along the way many times over the years and made some good money doing so. No complains or anything. When you maintain the Balthazar form you run faster as long as the form is on.

i use an sf running build on ranger for running most areas in proph, used to run droks on war, cba making a dervish because aside from running, they aren't fun/effective to play.

Gonna have to agree with Magma on this one, if you don't know what it is, you aren't ready to do it. I would suggest doing some research on what it is you want to run AFTER you decide what it is you would like to run.

Magma has it right, again.
The fastest zone runners can be rangers, but to do some areas they need to relay on secondaries and luck. While not as fast, Derv runers with Assassin secondaries are almost unstoppable by the majority of mobs.

Running, like many other things, can mean different things to different people. The `classic` runner is like Bob says above - they use speed boosts to get people from point A to point B without the other players needing to do anything.

Sometimes, though, you will see people advertising to `run` a mission or dungeon, and what they often mean is that they will do the dungeon with as few players as possible
but not necessarily any faster (often slower), while you tag along. Some of those runners will even make you bring certain spells to help them.

So, sometimes `running` actually means going faster, and sometimes it just means `doing it for you`. As others have said, some areas can be `run`using almost any class with speed boosts. But many missions and Dungeons require a lot of practice and specific builds to do properly.
